Ava, a recent empty nester who's lost her way, embarks on a trip to the Halo Happiness Retreat in Iceland, owned and run by Isak, an overly confident, underprepared Icelandic host. Upon arrival she meets Renee and Oliver, two other guests, who are also searching for happiness. Despite Isak's best efforts, his wellness techniques don't go as planned, but he teaches to embrace the Icelandic proverb, "petta reddast" - meaning, it will all work out. In the end, their connection sparks a new sense of direction and Ava rediscovers her passion for music. She comes to realize that happiness is not found in the destination, but in the journey - and, like all of us, she's still a work in progress. Inspired by series like Shrinking and Better Things, this short film dramedy finds the humor and heart in a relatable, messy, coming of (middle) age story that explores how to find love again... with yourself.
The film is written and directed by Alana Sanko, who co-produced and developed the project with Jeannie Logozzo. These accomplished women are co-founders of Work in Progress Productions, a blended production company focused on helping creators, especially women, tell their stories to advance both entertainment and business ventures.
